A brief look inside the cab of a class 45 locomotive. 45108 has recently returned to the Midland Railway - Butterley from its placement at the East Lancashire Railway to have some repairs and maintenance work carried out. You can see the cab interior is looking a bit tired, but it probably looks similar to how it was when it was in British Rail service. Where the sweet music comes from. A brief glimpse inside the engine compartment of class 45 (45133).This locomotive was built at Derby Works in 1961.It is fitted with a 12 cylinder Sulzer diesel engine developing 2500 horsepower. The engine is coupled to a Crompton Parkinson main generator, which in turn powers Crompton Parkinson traction motors on 6 driving axles. It is owned by the Class 45/1 Preservation Society and is based at Swanwick station on the Midland Railway heritage railway. #sulzer
