More than 100 people, including children, were killed in a missile strike on a girls’ school in southern Iran, the Iranian government reported. The Feb. 28 strike in Minab happened the day the U.S. and Israel began bombing Iran, accusing it of building nuclear weapons that threaten the U.S. and its allies.

The strike was one of the deadliest attacks of the American-Israeli campaign against Iran so far. Top Trump administration officials said on Wednesday that they were still investigating whether it was a U.S. airstrike that hit a girls elementary school in Iran on the opening day of the war.

An unsubstantiated claim circulated on social media blaming an Iranian missile for the deadly strike on the Minab girls' school.
